Alumni Update: Lachance Named Hockey East Player of the Week

Congratulations to Boston University Sophomore and Valley Jr. Warriors Alumni, Shane Lachance, who has been named the Friendship Four Player of the Tournament and Hockey East Player of the Week following a standout performance in leading Boston University to two victories in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Over the course of the tournament, Lachance totaled four points (2 goals, 2 assists), playing a key role in the Terriers' dramatic third-period rally in the title game against Notre Dame. With the Terriers trailing 3-1 in the third period, Lachance was instrumental in the comeback. He first recorded the primary assist on Ryan Greene’s game-tying goal at 4:42. Just 20 seconds later, Lachance scored the game-winning goal, his second of the game, to help BU secure the 4-3 victory. Additionally, Lachance had a hand in the team's first goal of the final frame, assisting on the play that brought the Terriers within striking distance.Lachance’s offensive contributions throughout the weekend helped propel the Terriers to the Friendship Four championship, further solidifying his status as one of the team’s top performers.

Lachance is a 2021 NHL Draft pick by the Edmonton Oilers and spent the 2023 season helping his Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL win the Clark Cup. 

As a Freshman, he appeared in all 40 games, totaling 13 goals and 14 assists for 27, and earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week (12/4/23) and Hockey East All-Academic Team honors.
