Walpole, MA- The Valley Jr Warriors had a fantastic week winning four straight games to propel them up the EHL New England division standings. The streak began Sunday in Burlington, VT with a dramatic come from behind victory over the first place VT Lumberjacks. Jack Studley (99’ Billerica, MA) scored two goals including the game tying goal then scored in the shootout to help lead the way. Goaltender Tanner Rusnak (00’ Bon Air, VA) made 44 saves including stopping both shooters he faced in the shootout to slam the door shut on the Lumberjacks.

Win number two came at home on Wednesday versus the well-coached East Coast Wizards team. In the 6-3 victory Tyler Buonopane (00’ N. Andover, MA) led the way for the Warriors with two goals and an assist. Goaltender Kyle Penton (00’ Waltham, MA) made 31 stops in the Warriors net to preserve the victory.

The Warriors then traveled to Walpole, MA for the first of five league wide college showcases this season. In front of over 50 NCAA schools the Jr. Warriors were victorious over the traditionally strong Philadelphia Little Flyers (3-2) and the NY Applecore (5-0). In the Philadelphia game, Karl Nordin (00’ Stockholm, Sweden) tied the game late in the second half with a beautiful rush passing two defenders on his way to the Philly net. The game winning goal came three shifts later when Luke Richards (01’ Wilkes-Barre, PA) sailed a high saucer pass to line mate Justin Sullivan who caught the pass mid stride and shot it over the Little Flyers goaltender to earn the victory.

In the final game of the showcase the Jr. Warriors took on the NY Applecore from Brewster, NY. This game was one sided as the Jr. Warriors controlled the play from the drop of the puck to the final buzzer. Michael Ardagna (99’ LD Woodstock, GA) scored the game winner half way through the first half on the power play on a pretty passing play with assists going to Luke Richards and Karl Nordin. Tanner Rusnak was once again victorious in the net making 24 saves to earn the first shutout of the season.
