Great work to our 2012 elites and 2014 elites on impressive weekends at the Eastern Exposure Cup.
The Valley Junior Warriors 2012 Elite had an impressive showing at the 2024 Eastern Exposure Cup this past weekend finishing with a record of 5-1. The 12 Elites went undefeated in the preliminary round beating Westchester Express North (NY), Woodbridge Wolfpack (NJ), Rochester Jr. Americans (NY), and CDA Hockey Academy (ID) to place first overall in their bracket and earn a spot in the semifinals. In the semifinals, the team faced a tough rematch against the Woodbridge Wolfpack and was able to jump out to a 4-0 lead in route to a 4-2 victory to earn a spot in the finals against the North Jersey Avalanche who defeated the Long Island Royals 5-1 in the other semifinal. In the finals, the Warriors went down 1-0 before evening the game at 1-1. North Jersey scored the go-ahead goal on a power play to take a 2-1 lead and despite outshooting the Avalanche by a wide margin and hitting two posts, the Warriors were unable to come up with the equalizer to send the game into OT. A tough finish, but a very strong weekend for the team to build on as they resume their E9 league schedule this upcoming weekend.
The 2014 Elite team also had an impressive weekend. The Warriors had a fantastic Round Robin series beating Westchester Express 6-1, Valley Forge Minutemen 17-0, NJ Colonials 10-2, and losing to Long Island Royals. They secured 2nd place in the round robin that made for an exciting semi-final game versus Westchester Express with a 3-2 OT win that propelled them into the Championship game versus Long Island Royals. Long Island Royals lead an extremely competitive game 3-2 late into the 3rd period. Long Island scored with 3:59 left to take a 4-2 lead then scored an empty netter for a 5-2 final. Kaiden Foster lead the team with 16 points ( 10 goals, 6 assists), Wyatt Cronin had 9 points (7 goals, 2 assists), Nate Salerno 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists), Mark Kozlov 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) and AJ Wagstaff 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists). Goaltending was superb throughout the tournament with Gavin Ward and Braeden Callan 2nd and 3rd respectively in goals against average and save percentage for the AAA division.
